ABOUT THE CONTAINER GLOBE
GLOBE
CONTAINER
THE
Around 400 years ago, William Shakespeare and his partners built a theater in the round and called it The Globe. It was a place where the audience and players got very 'up close and personal', and the often drunk and rowdy crowd connected closely with the actors - and sometimes even became part of the action. It was where Shakespeare's genius plays really came alive - not just words learned by rote in dusty schoolrooms.
Our idea is simple: to build a modern Globe (or Globes!) from re-purposed shipping containers and commonly available building materials and have a venue not only for putting on big gutsy Shakespeare, but also for music, dance and live events. The Container Globe will be a place that both refers back to Shakespeare's classical Globe, but is also modern, vital and new.
The Container Globe is both modular and mobile…it can be broken down, moved and reassembled, and is a low-cost alternative to brick-and-morter theaters. We can build Globes anywhere there's containers and scaffolding - i.e. pretty much everywhere. Imagine a Detroit Globe, or an Africa Globe… a Wellington and a Mumbai Globe.

We'll be presenting an exhibition on the Container Globe at the lovely ORA gallery in New York City, that will start at the beginning of February, and run the entire month!
The Opening Night Reception will be Thursday 2nd February, 6pm - 8pm.
SAVE THE DATE !
The exhibition is titled "Never Mind the Bollocks - Here's The Container Globe" because we think that both Shakespeare was a bit of a punk rocker for his time (for upending and exploding the world of playwriting) and that the Container Globe is a punk reimagining of Shakespeare's original Globe.
We'd love to see you, meet you, hug and share a beverage with you - so if you're in New York in February, come see us! Please tell your friends, fellow bardolators, frothing Shakespeare boffins, one and all...
We'll also be running an online crowdfunding campaign that will run at the same time as the exhibition...more to come on that !
The location of the ORA gallery is on 7th Ave between 13th & 14th streets.

CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN
OUR CONTAINER GLOBE
CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN:
Now through September 30th
We would not have gotten this far without the huge support from all the incredible friends and supporters that have helped us push this project forward. Whether it's $10 or $10,000 - your contribution will support us even further to get the first Container Globe built.
The mission of the Container Globe is to build a fiercely modern, yet classically inspired venue that's a re-imagining of Shakespeare's Globe theater. We've spent the last few years assembling an amazing team of architects, engineers and theater consultants to figure out how we can build the Globe, and have created a rock-solid feasible plan to do it.
Now, your support can bring the first Container Globe to Detroit!
Please visit our crowd funding page at: www.patronicity.com/globe
And help spread the word on the mission!
Thank you so much!
